It’s about time that we have a conversation about city style. Because somewhere along the way, folks decided that it had to mean sneakers, a hoodie or whatever oversized garment that happened to be within arm’s reach.
No ma’am.
City style also known as street wear can be relaxed. It can be edgy. It can be playful. But it can also be chic. Let’s dissect one of our more recent looks and give you the play by play on how it was styled.
Let’s Talk Camouflage
These cropped camouflage pants aren’t exactly what comes to mind when you hear the words ‘polished fashion.’
But that’s precisely why we love them. This print is one of the staples in our wardrobe. The pants stop right above the ankle, giving them a more streamlined look while creating the perfect opportunity for the sandals to have their moment. The pants provide that casual yet eclectic stand-out feel.
The graphic tee and other notable accessories have entered the chat
The sleeveless graphic tee keeps the outfit relaxed but still crisp without that dingy, wrinkled ‘I just rolled out of bed’ energy. We tied the shirt in a knot in the back, to give a more tapered look. And the beige color keeps the tee sophisticated, giving all the gold bracelets and chain belts room to shine.
That is one of our favorite styling tricks. Take something casual and give it one or two elevated details. Instant upgrade.
The gold tie up sandals were intentionally chosen to dress up the look. The delicate straps bring a feminine and girly look to an otherwise masculine inspired outfit. And because the pants stop above the ankle, the sandals get the attention that they deserve. We never want to hide a fabulous shoe underneath a pant leg.
The pageboy hats bring a vintage touch to the look while adding additional texture. This also ties beautifully into the color palette.
We seldom just ‘put things on’ …there’s a method to the fabulousness. Lol
And then there were the bags
Jaelyn Desiree is carrying a brown and yellow Gucci/Adidas purse, which brings a designer moment and a pop of color to balance the neutrals. By the way, we classify camoflauge as a print around here. J. Kierstenn opted to carry a tan wicker clutch. This again is an opportunity to mix textures while creating a slightly more relaxed feel to the ensemble.
